hindsight is 2020 // t-shirt fundraiser

Today I am launching a t-shirt fundraiser for my ministry with the world race. To read more about what I am doing with AIM, check out the previous blog post!

This isn’t just any ol’ t-shirt sale. This has a fun story to go with it; a story about God’s faithfulness and all-knowing plan for our lives.

When I got back from the race in the fall of 2019, my heart was set on going back to the missions field with the race. And well, the Lord had some other plans for me which included lots of waiting (see previous blog post). In that waiting, my church was planning a trip to Africa to visit some of our partnered ministries. And of course I was signed up right away. Africa has always been a land on my heart but it was not on my route when I did the race. When I picked a route that didn’t include Africa, God reminded me that I would be there one day, just not right now.

So there I was in January, 2020 planning this trip to Africa with my church. We held meetings, booked flights, made t-shirts to sell and then… COVID. Our trip got canceled in April and there was sadness and frustration but again God whispered that, one day, I would be in Africa.

SO FAST FORWARD to today… 12/1/2020. This year has held many twists and turns, ups and downs but God is faithful through it all. In January, I launch for a squad leading trip with the world race… and guess which continent is on our route (Lord-willing). You guessed it. AFRICA!

As soon as I committed to squad-lead and started thinking through my fundraising plans, my parents remembered the box of t-shirts we ordered for the Africa trip that had been collecting dust since January. They generously donated the shirts to my trip and here I am selling them a year later. The saying “hindsight is 2020” couldn’t be more true. God knew when we ordered those shirts what their purpose would be.

Despite all of our frustration, ruined plans and lack of understanding He is still faithful and He is still good. His vision is always perfect, even when ours lacks.

Psalm 22:22 // I will declare your name to my people; in the assembly I will praise you.

This verse that ended up on the shirt blows my mind. When we designed this shirt, a couple in the church selected this verse and I loved. However, at the time, it didn’t hold any specific meaning to my life besides praising God, yeah of course. Hehehe.  BUT WOW. Now it’s meaning runs deep.

Here’s why.

Worship is a consistent theme on h-squad. As leaders we have been praying over this squad since September and we have kept getting the same concept over and over again. This is a squad of PRAISE. This is a squad of WORSHIP. We have gotten so many visions of us as an assembly of people, getting lost in the presence of God, together! It’s so fun how God was speaking this verse over our squad all the way back in January 2020, back when squad-leading was just a far off dream in my heart.

I will praise Him until my last breath. He is so so so GOOD!

Cami
